§ 4312. Belt Sanders (Class B).

- Belt sanders shall have both pulleys and the unused run of the sanding belt enclosed. Rim guards will be acceptable for pulleys with smooth disc wheels provided that in-running nip points are guarded.Exception: Portable belt sanding machines provided with: (1) Guarding on one side at the nip point where the sanding belt runs onto a pulley. (2) Handles located so that a barrier interrupts any straight line path between the gripping surface of a handle and the nip point of a pulley; and, (3) The unused run of the sanding belt guarded on one side and at the rear.HISTORY1.
