§ 1699. Hand Tools.

- (a) Tools having mushroomed heads, split or defective handles, worn parts, or other defects that impair their strength or render them unsafe for use shall be removed from service and shall not be reissued until the necessary repairs have been made.(b) Tools not needed for the work to be done shall not be left on scaffolds, ladders, or overhead levels. When work is being performed overhead on scaffolds, ladders, or on other surfaces, positive methods shall be used to prevent tools from falling.HISTORY1.
