§ 11006. Statement of Policy and Purpose.

- The public policy of the State of California is to protect and safeguard the civil rights of all individuals to seek, have access to, obtain, and hold employment without discrimination because of race, religious creed, color, national origin, ancestry, physical disability, mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, marital status, sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, age for individuals over forty years of age, and sexual orientation. Employment practices should treat all individuals equally, evaluating each on the basis of individual skills, knowledge and abilities and not on the basis of characteristics generally attributed to a group enumerated in the Act. The objectives of the California Fair Employment and Housing Act and these regulations are to promote equal employment opportunity and to assist all persons in understanding their rights, duties and obligations, so as to facilitate achievement of voluntary compliance with the law.HISTORY1.
