§ 72077. Patient.

- (a) Patient means a person admitted to a skilled nursing facility for observation, diagnosis or treatment.(b) Ambulatory patient means a patient who is able to leave a building unassisted under emergency conditions.(c) Nonambulatory patient means a patient who is unable to leave a building unassisted under emergency conditions.(1) The term nonambulatory patient includes, but is not limited to, persons who depend upon mechanical aids such as crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs, and shall include profoundly or severely mentally retarded persons.(d) This section shall become inoperative upon the operative date of Section 72077.1.HISTORY1. This regulatory action is deemed an emergency exempt from OAL review and was filed with the Secretary of State pursuant to Chapter 684, Statutes of 2001 (AB 1075). A Certificate of Compliance must be transmitted to OAL by 5-6-2008 or emergency language will be repealed by operation of law on the following day.2.
