§ 67450.40. Scope and Purpose.

- (a) Scope. This article applies to:(1) Any school district, or other school organization or agency, that operates a K-12 schools hazardous waste collection, consolidation, and accumulation facility (SHWCCAF) deemed to have a permit by rule pursuant to section 66270.60(d)(7); and(2) Hazardous waste generated by K-12 schools if the waste will be managed at a SHWCCAF deemed to have a permit by rule.(b) Purpose: This article provides for an alternative offsite hazardous waste management regulatory option that:(1) Establishes the mechanisms and requirements for offsite collection, consolidation, and accumulation under permit by rule of hazardous wastes generated by the routine operation and maintenance of K-12 schools;(2) Establishes the requirements for hazardous wastes generated by K-12 schools that are to be sent to an authorized offsite SHWCCAF operated in accordance with this article; and(3) Establishes the requirements for transportation of eligible hazardous wastes generated by K-12 schools to an authorized offsite SHWCCAF operated in accordance with this article.HISTORY1.
